If you wish to display a shopping cart in your ENVY store menu, the WooCommerce Menu Cart plugin is an easy-install solution. Alternatively, you can add code direct to the ENVY theme’s functions.php file if you wish to avoid adding another plugin.
Option 1 – Using the WooCommerce Menu Cart Plugin
You can display the ‘shopping cart’ icon, number of items and/or the total cost. The icon acts as a button linking to your shopping cart page and CSS is easy-to-modify (but you shouldn’t need to). A Pro Version is also available at https://wpovernight.com/downloads/menu-cart-pro/
2) Click ‘Settings > Menu Cart Setup’ and setup as required.
If using a setup similar to the Envy Theme Demo, select the ‘Store Menu’ to display the Menu Cart, always display the cart, even if it’s empty, and display the shopping cart icon.
Option 2 – Adding Code to Theme PHP File
If you want to avoid adding ‘another’ plugin, Sridhar Katakam wrote a fabulous tutorial on how to achieve a similar result by adding code (based on the plugin) to the theme’s function.php file. Click here to visit Sridhar’s easy-to-follow tutorial.
A Final Recommendation!
To prevent the store menu items from turning over to a new line on smaller screens, we recommend removing the ‘Cart’ and ‘Checkout’ page links in the store menu. The shopping cart icon will act as a link in its own right.
