Hello, I’d like to display the categories in different post type archive pages. So instead of having just one “store” page in my menu list showing all the categories I’d like to display each category separately in the menu. Anyone can help how to duplicate the existing post type archive page in the envy pro theme so I can have an archive page per category? Thanks a lot, AnneOctober 25, 2017 at 11:20 pm #4327
You’ll have to excuse me if I have misunderstood your query. But, I’m wondering why you can’t simply display different category pages rather than post-types, remembering products can also be categorised with sub-categories as well.
In this case, you would go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Display and choose the appropriate ‘Default Category Display’ – either ‘Show Products’ or ‘Show Subcategories and Products’. And then simply add menu items for the each of your categories.
I don’t think it’s possible to add more than one shop page, as it needs to be specified as a default in WooCommerce settings and is also back-linked on the Cart page (i.e. ‘Continue Shopping’ ).

Thank you Jon, So do I understand correctly that it is not possible to display the categories directly on the main site rather than the store site? Instead of having a “store” link on my main site I’d rather have a direct link to the categories within the store on my main site. In order to accomplish this I was thinking of creating additional shop pages and rename them as categories. If this is not possible, is there any other way to do this?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Again, I’m not sure I completely understand. What do you classify as a store site vs the main site? They are really one in the same.
Why can’t you simply add menu links to category pages rather than a link to the store page? Go to Appearance > Menus > Edit Menus, select the menu, and then drop-down the ‘Product Categories’ tab on the left hand side. If you don’t see the tab, go to Screen Options at the top and select ‘Product Categories’. Choose the categories you want and then add them to the menu.
Does this solve the issue?

Oh my goodness thank you sooooo much Jon!!!! I apologize this is all new for me and I didn’t see that Product Categories was an option when configuring the menu as it was not selected in the screen options…. Wow that was an easy fix and I spent days trying to figure this out and thought I’d have to probably somehow duplicate the “store” page…. Oh I feel embarassed but relieved of such an obvious easy fix! Thanks and my apologies, this indeed solved the issue!! 🙂

No need to feel embarrassed, Anne. Totally understand. In fact, many get caught if the option has not been selected in Screen Options. Just glad you’re now on track!
